The Founder
Monique "Niqqi" Knight
Founder & Executive Director
Pressure Built was born from founder Monique “Niqqi” Knight’s deeply personal understanding of how dangerous domestic violence can become and how critical the right support can be. After being relentlessly stalked, held hostage, and nearly murdered by her husband, Monique experienced firsthand the fear, isolation, and difficult realities victims can face when trying to escape abuse. Ultimately, she was forced to relocate to protect her life and begin again, leaving behind everything familiar in pursuit of safety and a new future. Those experiences became part of the purpose behind her commitment to helping others recognize danger, develop safety strategies, access resources, and understand that there can be life beyond abuse. Through Pressure Built, Monique combines her lived experience with years of community service, education, and advocacy to empower survivors while educating the communities that support them. Her mission is to ensure that what she survived becomes more than a chapter of trauma—it becomes a source of hope, empowerment, education, and potentially life-saving information for others.

Our Mission
Pressure Built, Inc. exists to empower victims, survivors, individuals, and families impacted by domestic violence and chronic adversity with the support, education, resources, and tools needed to move from survival to stability, strength, and purpose. Through advocacy, awareness, education, community partnerships, resource connections, empowerment programs, and direct support, we help people recognize that the circumstances they have endured do not have to define the lives they build. We don't simply help people survive the pressure. We help them build from it.

Our vision is a future where every person impacted by domestic violence and adversity has access to the safety, support, knowledge, resources, and opportunities necessary to rebuild their life and thrive. We envision communities where survivors are heard, families are strengthened, children are given hope, cycles of violence and adversity are interrupted, and individuals are empowered to transform some of life's greatest pressures into strength, purpose, and lasting change. The pressure didn't break us. It built us.

2014
Founded
Pressure Built, Inc. is established by Monique "Niqqi" Knight, because of her own journey through domestic violence survival and recovery. (Formerly The I of ME. Inc.)
2015
Pressure Built Holiday Hope Christmas Program
Launch of The Pressure Built Holiday Hope Christmas Program that brings joy and hope to families impacted by domestic violence and adversity by providing toys and gifts during the holiday season while reminding them that they are seen, supported, and valued.
2018
Community Education Initiative
The Pressure Built Community Education Initiative brings practical, empowering education directly into communities to increase awareness, strengthen families, promote positive change, and equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to build safer, healthier, and more resilient lives.

Launch of the Pressure Built 24/7 Help Hotline, which provides compassionate support, information, and connections to resources for individuals impacted by domestic violence who need guidance, encouragement, and help identifying their next steps.
